New Project: WEEP

Women Economic Empowerment Project (WEEP) overseen by James Adupa of Holistic Operation for Rural Development (HORDE) is helping the women of northern Uganda to create livelihoods for the rural poor. We are in the process of organizing assistance to get two businesses off the ground: 
1. Commercial bread making.
2. Commercial soap making.
James says, the Project Goal is “To empower and equip rural poor women with skills for economically productive engagement to enhance sustainable livelihood and development at household and community level."

Update on Copeland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall

Volunteers build ramp and the Community Church of Everglades City donated the lumber! It's wonderful to see God's hand in this. The fellowship hall will be a much needed facility in the town of Copeland. God Bless all his churches and workers!

We are still working for the Copeland Baptist Church in getting the Fellowship Hall up and running!

Expansion of work in Lira, Uganda

We have five women groups now and each group has between 20 to 30 members of varying ages but our main focus is empowering those below 35 years old. Those whom have have been trained are now earning from the skills they acquired, you will find attached pictures of one of our trainee now n business. The main challenge is that our trainee do not have capital to start engaging in business with the skills they acquired though I have already designed a Village Savings and Loan Association plan for them. I am looking at empowering the women with home banking skills, group savings and members loan scheme to help promote the group members. Some of the young women in Kamdini town suburbs are interested in Information and Communication Technology (training in computer skills), Designing table cloth, knitting sweaters, I think these are training needs we can consider in future. If we could get some funds, we could do three more training in the coming month of Dec. 2014. We will continue liquid soap production training, and bakery (home baking) training. I conducted another training on Thursday 16 Oct 2014, 9 women, 1 man and 1 boy were trained, the boy came from a neighborhood and the man coordinated and mobilized the women. A lot of needs, pray for God to lead us (you and I) in helping with the needs. The women are also interested in other skills like Bakery, fruit juice preservation. Thank you for your time, offer and prayers in helping with the needs of the women. May the almighty God continuously bless you, your family and Team of God. Soap Making in Lira, Uganda

James , my friend in Lira, Uganda is working with women to create job skills and a grass-roots business of soap and shampoo making to help them sustain their families. TOG has worked with the Liregu Christian Grace Ministries in the past to help the women make sanitary pads and that project has been completed. Now, if God so moves your heart, James could use some funding for his project. "I am writing to keep you to keep you aware of we are doing here, you will find attached some pictures of training of 5 ladies trainers for liquid soap and shampoo production we conducted yesterday 24th Sept and tested the product today. The trained ladies will be helping in empowering child mothers and single mothers with this life skills of producing liquid soap and shampoo that they can supply their local markets. please, pray with us, we need God's hand in this and the people to serve the children of God in the part of the world. Healing Hearts

A child is abused, a child is taken from their home, a child is alone and frightened. The child is placed in a temporary home without anything of comfort and familiarity… “Healing Hearts” is a program that TeamofGod.org has initiated for new children entering foster care in Cherokee County. Stephanie Freeman, her parents Edward and Robin, who have adopted her, are overseeing the project of providing new pillows and pillow cases personalized with the child’s initials to be given to youngsters as they go to their new temporary homes. Stephanie, who has been a child of foster care, explains, “As a little girl I lived with my mother who was very abusive. Sometimes she would hit me, yell, and cuss at me for no reason. My mother treated me like an adult rather than a child. One day I was at daycare and a woman came in and told me it was time to go. I didn't know her, but I figured that she would take me home like all the other strangers did. Instead of going home I went to a place called DSS. I never got the chance to go home first. I couldn’t get any of my toys or clothes! As I went in to the system I was so scared because I had NO ONE. I went to the children's home and stayed for two weeks, and then I was moved to my first foster home for three months and then moved to my second foster home. After being moved all this time I honestly felt like I wasn't wanted! Not too long after living with this family, a very special lady brought me a doll. I named her Dolly and she was the only thing that no one could take away. The feeling of that assurance was wonderful! Finally, I had this one thing I could claim was all mine. And…after four long years these loving people adopted me!” Children taken even from an abusive family need assurance and a measure of control. Because we can’t provide a gender-based item, such as “Dolly”, we thought that a pillow, identified as personally belonging to them, would give these youngsters comfort and a sense of ownership.
